the idea of the project originally was:
Goal of the interdisciplinary art project Communicating Funk Carioca is to find new forms of a fair exchange between different cultures and countries. Amicable communication, mutual support, inspiration, and respect replace one-sided art- and cultural transfer. Using the example of the Brazilian music and youth culture Funk Carioca, concrete ways for a constructive intercultural collaboration are suggested. The project is the attempt to bring the music of the Brazilian Favelas and Austrian art together. Not only differences, but similarities between the two are brought to attention. Independent of the initial economic situation, young people today all around the world use multimedia techniques to get attention – rooted in a “hacker” or “sampler” culture.
